Deleting your data
Last updated 14 September 2026
You can remove your family's data from ChoreLock at any time. There are two routes: delete things yourself in the parent app, or ask us to erase everything.
Deleting things yourself
From the parent app you can delete:
- A child profile — profile screen, Delete child. This removes the child and their chores, locked apps, completed-chore records, points history and screen-time limits from your family's phones.
- Individual chores, rewards and lock rules — from their own edit screens.
- A paired device — profile screen, Unpair device. The child's phone stops reporting and stops enforcing limits.
Uninstalling the apps removes everything held on those phones, including the local database and the parent PIN.
Deleting inside the app is not the same as erasing our copy. Some records are kept on our servers even after they disappear from your phones, so that a phone which was offline at the time cannot resurrect them when it reconnects. If your intention is that we should no longer hold anything, use the full erase below — that is the one that removes our copy too.
Erasing everything — from inside the app
This is the fastest route, and it takes effect immediately. In the parent app:
- Open the Settings tab.
- Scroll to Delete everything at the bottom.
- Type your family name to confirm, then tap Permanently delete.
Everything listed below is removed from our servers straight away, and the app returns to its first-run state. Any parent on the family can do this.
Erasing everything — by email
If you no longer have the app installed, email us instead:
Send it to chorelockapp@gmail.com from any device, and include:
- Your family linking code, or the family name plus the first names of the children on the account. This is how we find the right family — we have no other way to identify you, because ChoreLock does not ask for an email address or create a login.
- A note that you are a parent on the account. Only a parent can request this.
What we do, and how fast
- We reply to confirm we have your request within 7 days.
- We complete the deletion within 30 days, and email you when it is done.
- There is no charge, and we will not ask you to explain why.
What gets deleted
Everything we hold for your family:
- Child profiles — names, avatars and birth years
- Chores, rewards, point history and redemptions
- Chore completion photos
- App lock rules, screen-time limits and bedtime schedules
- On Android, the recorded app list and screen-time figures
- Check-in times and coverage-gap records
- Device identifiers and push notification tokens
Deletion is permanent. We do not keep an archived copy, and we cannot restore a family once it has been erased — so if you only want to stop using ChoreLock for a while, uninstalling is the reversible option.
What we may briefly retain
Deleted records can persist for a short period in our hosting provider's routine backups before those rotate out. They are not accessible to us as live data and are not used for anything. Nothing is retained for analytics, profiling or marketing, because we do none of those.
Questions
If you are unsure what would be deleted, or want a copy of your data before erasing it, ask first at chorelockapp@gmail.com — we will answer before doing anything irreversible.
